What is The AI Memory Method?

The AI Memory Method is a one-time-purchase tool that imports your chat history from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, Perplexity, Grok and Arena.ai, stores it 100% locally on your own machine, and generates a portable AI Memory File. Paste that file once into each AI platform's memory settings and every future session already knows your projects, your voice and your history. Pro adds a browser extension that injects it automatically.

On your machine only. Zero bytes sent to any server.

HBOMB's House LLC, Port Orchard WA. Founder: Heather Craig.

An AI Memory File is a portable, locally-stored markdown file that distills who you are, what you work on and how you think — so any AI chatbot can pick up where the last one left off, instead of starting from zero.

Who is The AI Memory Method for?

Use more than one AI? You're repeating yourself. The AI Memory Method brings every AI up to speed — so you never start from scratch again.

Writers
Stop re-teaching your voice and style on every single draft. Your tone, your references, and your past work load into any AI from the first word — so what comes back already sounds like you.
Founders
Juggling ChatGPT, Claude & Gemini? Brief all three at once. Your company, your customers, and your strategy live in one file, so every tool you open is already up to speed instead of starting from zero.
Developers
Your AI remembers your stack, your repo, and your conventions. No more pasting the same setup into every new chat — your architecture and coding style travel with you across every model.
Researchers
Months of threads, instantly available to any model. Every source, dead end, and breakthrough stays connected, so you build on what you’ve already done instead of rediscovering it.

If you've ever typed “as I mentioned before” to a robot — this is for you.

For Business Teams & Enterprise

Your company's memory belongs to your company — not a vendor's servers. Roll The AI Memory Method out across your whole team and every conversation compounds into one living company brain: decisions, client context, processes, the hard-won knowledge that usually walks out the door when someone leaves.

It lives on your own servers and refreshes daily as your people work — so your AI understands your business a little better every single day. Zero data ever leaves your walls. Nothing trains an outside model. The longer your team uses it, the smarter and more valuable it gets.

How does The AI Memory Method work?

Five simple steps. Set up once. Works forever.

STEP 01
Export your chat history
Download your conversation history from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, Perplexity, or Grok — each has a built-in export in settings. Takes about 2 minutes per platform. Our free export guide walks you through every one.
STEP 02
Build your local memory vault
Open the app. Click "Add Files." Mix exports from multiple platforms. The AI Memory Method auto-detects each format and organizes everything into smart folders on your machine — no cloud, no servers.
STEP 03
Generate your Memory File
One click builds your personal AI Memory File — a ready-to-use summary of who you are, what you work on, and how you think. This file lives on your machine. You control it. No AI platform stores it for you.
STEP 04
Stay current with Daily Auto-Sync
Set a sync time once. Every day the app silently re-imports your newest conversations and refreshes your Memory File automatically. Your AI context always reflects your most recent work — without you lifting a finger.
STEP 05
Paste once — every AI knows you
Paste your Memory File into each AI platform's memory settings once — ChatGPT Custom Instructions, Claude Projects, Gemini Gems. Done. Every session on those platforms already knows you automatically from that point forward. Pro users: the browser extension skips this step entirely — zero pasting, ever.

Where does your data actually go?

One loop, with your machine at the center. Nothing ever touches a cloud server.

How is this different from built-in AI memory?

Every AI platform now has some kind of memory. The difference is who owns it, and whether it follows you when you switch.

The AI Memory Method Built-in AI memory Copy-paste by hand
Where your data is stored Your machine, 100% local The AI company's servers Wherever you left it
Works across platforms Yes — one file, every AI No — locked to that one platform Only if you paste it again
Survives switching AI tools Yes — the file is yours No — you start from zero Yes, but manually every time
Ongoing effort from you Paste once per platform, then none None, but only on that platform Every single new chat
Cost $97–$197 once, no subscription Often bundled with a monthly plan Free, but costs you time forever
You can read the raw file Yes — plain markdown, no lock-in Usually not Yes

Comparison reflects how platform-native memory features and manual workflows generally operate. Individual AI platforms change their features frequently — check their current documentation.

How the automatic memory works

Paste once. Every AI knows you forever.

Every major AI platform has a built-in memory feature. The AI Memory Method generates your personal context file — then you paste it into each platform once. From that point forward, every session automatically starts with full context about who you are.

ChatGPT
Settings → Personalization → Custom Instructions
Paste your Memory File here. Every ChatGPT conversation from this point forward automatically includes your context — no action needed.
Claude
Create a Project → Project Instructions
Create one Claude Project and paste your Memory File into its instructions. Every chat inside that Project already knows you from the first message.
Gemini
Create a Gem → Instructions
Create a personal Gem and paste your Memory File as its instructions. Use that Gem for all your sessions — it knows everything about you.
Copilot
Profile → Personal Preferences
Add your Memory File to Copilot's personal preferences section. It carries through every conversation automatically.
Grok
Settings → Grok → Custom Instructions
Paste your Memory File into Grok's custom instructions on X. Every Grok conversation then starts already knowing your context.
Any other AI
System prompt or first message
For any AI without a memory feature, paste your file as the first message or system prompt. Daily Auto-Sync keeps it fresh automatically.
One paste.
All AI, forever.
Daily Auto-Sync refreshes your Memory File every morning so it always reflects your latest work and conversations.
WHY THIS MATTERS

Your data lives on your machine. Not theirs.

Every AI platform has its own memory feature — but it lives on their servers, under their rules, and disappears if you leave. The AI Memory Method stores everything locally on your computer. You own it completely. It works across every AI platform. And it keeps working even if any of them change their settings tomorrow.

100% local storage
Your conversations never leave your computer. Not one byte.
Platform-independent
Works with any AI — even ones that don't have a memory feature.
Nothing to break
AI platforms change their settings all the time. Your local vault is unaffected.
You don't need Claude's memory feature
Or ChatGPT's. Or Gemini's. Your Memory File is yours — paste it anywhere, anytime.

One price. Own your AI memory forever.

No subscriptions. No recurring fees. Pay once, yours forever.

Frequently asked questions

Can't I just use Gemini's new import tool? ChatGPT and Claude have memory too.
Those are moving vans, not memory you own. Each platform's import tool exists to move you into that company's ecosystem — one direction, one platform. And read the fine print: Google's own help pages state that chats imported into Gemini are saved to your activity and can be used to improve their services, including training their AI models. Your memory becomes their training data. The AI Memory Method is the opposite — your entire chat history lives on your machine, your Memory File works across all six major platforms (plus any other AI via paste), and nothing ever touches anyone's servers. Big AI wants you to move in with them. We think you should own the house.
Does this actually make AI remember me automatically?
Yes — here's how it works: The AI Memory Method generates your personal Memory File from all your imported chats. You paste it once into each platform's memory settings (ChatGPT Custom Instructions, Claude Projects, Gemini Gems). From that point forward, every session on those platforms automatically starts with your full context. No pasting, no re-explaining — the AI just already knows you.
How do I export my chats from each platform?
Every platform is a little different:

ChatGPT — click your avatar → Settings → Data Controls → Export Data. You'll get a ZIP by email in a few minutes.

Claude — Settings → Account → Export Data. Downloads as a JSON file directly.

Gemini — Google doesn't offer a clean chat export yet (Takeout only returns Gems, not conversations), so use our starter-prompt method: have Gemini write your memory profile, save it, and import it. Full steps in the free export guides below.

Microsoft Copilot — Settings → Privacy → "Export or delete history" → under Copilot apps, click "Export all activity history."

Perplexity — Settings → Account → Export Data if your plan shows it; otherwise use our memory-summary starter prompt (in the free export guides below) — works on every account.

Grok — x.com profile → Settings → Your Account → Download an archive of your data.

All of these drop right into The AI Memory Method. Just click Add Files and select whatever you downloaded.
Does my data go anywhere?
No. Everything runs 100% locally on your computer. Your conversations from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, Perplexity, and Grok never touch any server. No cloud. No tracking. Your memory stays yours.
What apps can I use to read my vault files?
Any app that opens text or markdown files — which is basically everything:

Best for power users: Obsidian, Logseq, VS Code
Best for everyday use: Notion (import), Typora, Bear
Simple options: Notepad, TextEdit, any text editor
Microsoft & Evernote users: OneNote and Evernote all support markdown import, so your vault drops right in.

Your files are plain .md files saved locally. No lock-in. Open them anywhere, forever.
How does Daily Auto-Sync keep my memory current?
Once you set up Daily Auto-Sync, the app runs silently at your chosen time every day (default 7AM). It re-imports your latest AI conversations, rebuilds your Memory File with the most current version of your work and projects, and saves it to your vault. The next time you need it, it's already up to date. You never touch it manually.
What gets added with future updates?
Everything. New platform support, smarter Memory File generation, auto-summarization, new export formats — all free with your one-time purchase. You pay once, you get every update forever.
What's your refund policy?
7-day full refund, no questions asked. Email us within 7 days of purchase and we'll refund you immediately.
